A device ordered through the Velory store will only have the status set as active once it has been marked as received.
The Mark as received function updates the device status and moves it to the correct place in Velory for other processes to follow their right paths.
🧠In this guide:
What does Mark as received mean?
All ongoing orders are visible under Ongoing orders in your profile when you go to Your details.
Once the device has been shipped and marked as received:
- The Mark as received button disappears status is updated to Active
- The device moves from ongoing orders to Your hardware as an active device
- The received date is stored in the device log
As an admin, you can choose to enable automatic marking of one-off purchased devices as received. This setting is available under Company settings. See the related article for more details about this functionality.
As a user, check with your company admin whether you need to mark the device as received yourself or if this is handled automatically.
How to mark a device as received
Once the device has been shipped, the Mark as received button becomes available on the device page.
- Open the device
- Click Mark as received on any of the buttons available on the page
When marked as received - The device status will update to Active, and it will move to the correct overview.
When you click Mark as received, a pop-up window appears where you can add additional details, such as the serial number or IMEI number (for phones).
If your company is integrated with a distributor, this information is added automatically once the device has been shipped.
We recommend always ensuring that extended details are added to the device to keep your hardware data complete and accurate.

How life span dates are affected
Marking a device as received does not affect its life span details.
The following dates are automatically set when the device is ordered through the store:
-
Purchase date defaults to the date the order is placed
-
Renewal date is based on:
- The leasing period (if leased)
- The budget renewal period (if a budget is assigned)
- The leasing period (if leased)
As an admin, you can manually edit these dates if necessary.
Before making changes, make sure you understand how life span details impact a user or space. Read more in this article.
