A space in Velory can represent any type of physical room or storage area. For example, you can connect conference room equipment to a space in Velory to keep a clear overview of what hardware is located there. You can set it up as a virtual room to keep track of devices that arenβt located in a physical space.
π§ In this guide:
Create a new space
- Go to Asset Management in the navigation bar.
- Click on Spaces β Add space.
- Enter a name for your space.
- (Optional) Select a location if your company has multiple offices.

Manage your space
When you click on a space, you will access a detailed view where you can edit the space information, update assigned hardware, and review the event logs.
To move a device from a space, follow these steps:
- Click on the device name and reassign it directly from the device page.
- Or, click on the three dots next to the device, select Reassign device, and use the drop-down menu to choose a new assignment.
π Note: If you reassign a device to a user, make sure that the correct payor is set. To verify or update the payor, go to the device detail page. Read more about the payor of a device.
Good to know
-
To remove a space, click on the three dots in the top corner of the details view. You will need to confirm the action before the space is deleted.
π Important: If the space contains devices, they will automatically be marked as unassigned. This means that the devices are not deleted, only detached from the space. Note also that removing a space cannot be undone.
- If your company has the End-of-Lifecycle functionality enabled and offers device return flows, you may see an automatically created space called Returned devices. This space is locked, which means you cannot edit or delete it. However, you can manually assign devices to this space and also reassign them from it.
