Instead of manually adding each device during onboarding or using the CSV import functionality, Velory can use the device information already available in your MDM and create the devices for you. This makes it faster and easier to get started!
The feature works with all supported MDM integrations in Velory.

How automatic device creation works
When you connect an MDM to Velory:
- Devices can automatically be created based on the data available in your MDM.
- All supported device attributes from the MDM are mapped and saved in Velory.
This reduces manual administration both during onboarding and when keeping devices in sync over time.
👉 After you have connected your MDM, and you click on to the connection details, you can choose to automatically import your devices.
From there, you decide whether to import all device categories or only the ones you need.
💡If you have multiple tenants connected to the same MDM provider, you’ll need to enable or disable automatic device import for each tenant individually.

Devices needing action
There is a dedicated view highlighting devices with missing or incomplete information - Needs review.
This will help you:
- Quickly identify incomplete records
- Improve data quality
- Maintain full lifecycle visibility
MDM systems focus on technical device data. They do not contain financial or contractual information. This means the following data is not included in the automatic import:
- Leasing cost
- Contract terms
- Depreciation details
- Supplier information
As a result, devices imported via MDM may initially have incomplete lifecycle data in Velory.
To complete the device record, financial information must be:
- Added manually, or
- Added through partner integrations (if applicable).
This is expected behaviour and something to keep in mind when setting up your device management workflows.
Good to know
To give you better visibility and control, Velory includes a Device Source filter.
You can filter devices by how they were created.
This helps you:
- Identify which devices were created via MDM
- Follow up on devices that may need additional information
