If you have a device assigned to you that was purchased outside of Velory—typically imported when your company first joined Velory—there is a transition period. During this time, these devices must be renewed before new ones can be ordered through the Velory store.
This article explains how the renewal process works for devices from distributors such as Atea and Elisa.
🧭 In this guide:
How the renewal process works
For devices purchased outside Velory:
-
30 days before the renewal date: The user receives an email notifying them that their device is up for renewal and that action is required.
- The email explains that the only step needed in Velory is to click Start the process.
- Once the process is started, the store is available to order a new device. The process of the old phone needs to be done directly with the provider and owner of that phone, so directly with for example Atea and Elisa.
- Return the device
- Buy out the device for personal use
This part of the process is handled entirely between the user and the distributor.
Steps for users
-
Click "Start the process"
- Log in to Velory.
- Go to your device page and click Start the process when prompted.
- Log in to Velory.
Note: Once the process has been started, the device status in Velory will automatically update to “return pending.” This is expected behavior and nothing to worry about, even if you plan to buy out the device directly with the distributor.
Keep in mind that Velory does not sync with actions taken directly with providers such as Atea or Elisa. The final status (return or buyout) will be confirmed later by your company admin in Velory.
-
Wait for the distributor’s email
- The distributor will contact you directly to guide you through returning or buying out your device.

-
Request a new device
- Once you have clicked Start the process, the Velory store will open.
- Select and request a new device.

Prepare your old device
- Once your new device arrives, transfer or delete all personal data from the old device.

Steps for admins
-
Confirm action on old device
- Once the user has completed their part with the distributor (return or buyout), log in to Velory.
- On the device page, click Confirm return.
- If the device was bought out instead of returned, note this in the device notes (according to your company’s process).
- Once the user has completed their part with the distributor (return or buyout), log in to Velory.
-
Mark device as released
- After confirming, an option to Mark as released will appear.
- Click Mark as released to indicate that the device has been removed from any company systems (e.g., MDM).
- This step is necessary to keep asset data accurate and up to date.
- After confirming, an option to Mark as released will appear.
Finalizing the process
Once the device is marked as released:
✅ Its status changes to Removed
✅ It is no longer visible in the user’s hardware view
✅ The device is fully removed from the company’s asset management in Velory
The renewal process is now complete.
